Immediately Improve Health Plan Member Engagement
This week, I attended the AHIP Consumer Experience & Digital Health Forum – one of the premier conferences for healthcare innovation in digital health. A lot of focus was on how health plans seek to improve member engagement, especially through the use of digital technology. The other theme that I heard was that any digital strategy implemented must pay off in less than a year for fear that a member won’t renew the next year.
Accomplishing these two goals simultaneously can be difficult. While many digital technology solutions can have immediate impact, significant impact is often not immediate. Healthcare innovation is not a boxed solution; it’s an investment. So how can you invest in a digital technology but still see immediate impact on member engagement?
Here’s one way: Immediately remove all digital communication to members that includes text along the lines of “email@example.com”, “firstname.lastname@example.org”, or “this is an automated message”. If a member wants digital communication then it’s time to listen to what they want to say through that digital communication!
